To be honest – you are not a detective unless you are a member of the police, but anyone who has watched any police shows on television realize in our high technical world important evidence is gathered and evaluated by specialists in both criminal and cicil cases. There is use for forensic specialists in music companies, trying to eliminate sounds on tapes.
This is not an area where I am a specialist, but my college has a police academy and someone noted that there are four day training programs at OCEAN SYSTEMS DETECTIVE in Maryland that provide the basic skills. I gather small police departments want to develop lab staff in this field. If you like computers and audio-video equipment and detective work, you should look into this occupation.
